New Distillation Column
successful installation of an Illudest Distillation Column from a very generous donation from Eli Lilly
We here in MTU were delighted to welcome Eli Lilly to the Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Laboratory on our Bishopstown campus.
This Universities relationships with our local industries and in particular Eli Lilly reaches back a long way. This year alone, Lilly has hired four of our current graduating class. This “talent pipeline” stretches back for decades and for this we are grateful.
Thank you to Lilly for hosting our work placement students annually and final year project research students.
It was an auspicious day in that we marked the successful installation of an Illudest Distillation Column following on from a very generous donation from Eli Lilly. This distillation column has been installed and certified to the highest standards, with gas alarm sensors, integrated into our main fire and gas alarm system. The column is installed with the latest technology. It aligns directly into our on-going research and implementation of technologies including Digital Twin, Artificial intelligence and Machine Learning.
We are incorporating the Distillation Column into our Year 3 Laboratory activities and in this current academic year, one of our students used the Column as the basis for his final year project
Sincere thanks to Eli Lilly for such a generous donation to our University. Everyone in the Chem Eng. Department, were eagerly anticipating and following the installation and final presentation of the column, to have such cutting-edge real-life equipment at the disposal of our staff and students is truly fantastic.
