Frank Morton's Sports Day 2024

MTU Cork attended the annual Frank Morton’s sports day in Swansea this year and came 3rd place out of 12 colleges competing. They were supported with funding from the process, energy and transport engineering department, MSD and Jacobs Engineering. Swansea was the host of this years event allowing all chemical engineers from all over Ireland and the UK to come together and socialise, network and play sport.
40th Anniversary

The Chemical Engineering programme in MTU celebrated its 40th anniversary on 8th March at the Maryborough hotel. The reunion was a tremendous success, bringing together over 300 attendees including 240 Chem Eng Alumni showcasing the impact and reach of our alumni.

The Chemical Engineering programme in MTU is celebrating 40 years of producing Chemical Engineering graduates from 1983 to 2023. Since our inception in 1979, we have remained dedicated to providing a premier honours degree programme in Chemical Engineering and education.
The Four Year Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Engineering Programme recently hosted a visit by the IChemE Accreditation team and is Accredited at M-Standard for a Further 4 years

Qualifications accredited at M-Standard meet the full academic requirements for Chartered Member (MIChemE) and Chartered Engineer (CEng). M-Standard recognises integrated degrees that provide both the solid academic foundation (in chemical engineering) plus the advanced chemical engineering knowledge and skills.
Collaboration between Eli-Lilly and MTU

We here in MTU were delighted to welcome Eli Lilly to the Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Laboratory on our Bishopstown campus.
It was an auspicious day in that we marked the successful installation of an Illudest Distillation Column following on from a very generous donation from Eli Lilly. The column is installed with the latest technology. We are incorporating the Distillation Column into our Year 3 Laboratory activities and in this current academic year, one of our students used the Column as the basis for his final year project
Bioreactor for Chemical & Biopharmaceutical Engineering in MTU

The Chemical & Biopharmaceutical Laboratory in MTU has recently installed and commissioned a new Bioreactor, which will be used with the Laboratory programme for our undergraduate students along with research.
